Bluray Ripper for Mac OS X Lion-watching/putting bluray movies to iTunes Movie Library

Watching Blu-ray movies on the Mac is possible, despite lack of official support. But this will take some effort than watching Blu-ray movies on a Windows PC. There are authorized Blu-ray media player like PowerDVD and WinDVD that can play Blu-ray movie instantly from BD drive, but that’s for Windows only. So the first thing you need to do is ripping the Blu-ray movie off BD. When a Blu-ray movie is ripped onto Mac hard drive, you can play it like other 1080p high-definition contents. The following guide shows you how to rip Blu-rays to iTunes on Mac OS X Lion, so that you can not only watch Blu-ray movie on Mac Lion, but also sync bluray to iPad or stream bluray to Apple TV 2.

Guide- how to put Blu-ray to iTunes Movie Library on Mac OS X Lion?

In order to rip Blu-ray Disc to iTunes, you need to put the Blu-ray Disc into an external Blu-ray Disc drive which is in connection with you Mac OS X Lion computer, and get an efficient Bluray movie to Mac OS X Lion Converter that exports iTunes friendly format (Quick Time .mov, H.264 .mp4, .m4v). I picked up Pavtube Bluray Ripper for Mac OS X Lion, as it works perfectly on the new released Lion OS. Here’re the steps.
Step 1. Click the "BD/DVD" icon to load Blu-ray movie from external BD drive. When importing Bluray to iTunes Mac OS X Lion you need to keep your Mac networked so as to access keys for hacking Blu-ray copy-protections.

Step 2. Unfold the movie directory and select Main movie.

Step 3. Select preferred language from drop-down list of "Subtitles" and "Audio" box.

Step 4. Click "Format" bar and select a format for iTunes playback. I find "iPad > iPad HD Video H.264 (*.mp4) format balances video size and quality well. The format exports 1280 x720 .mp4 video with pretty good picture and compresses a 90min Blu-ray movie to 2-3GB.

Step 5. Click "Convert" to start ripping Blu-ray to iTunes compatible video. When conversion completes click the "Open" button to find the converted movie.

You can then add the Blu-ray movie to iTunes movie library. Simply open up iTunes, go to LIBRARY > Movies, the drag and drop the ripped Blu-ray movies to iTunes. Or go to File > Add to Library and browse to the movie.
