50p/60p Converter-Transcode CX360 MTS to ProRes for FCP X Editing
Merge/Edit Sony CX360V 1920x1080 50p/60p AVCHD to ProRes 422(HQ)(*mov) on FCP X with Highest quality

I used Sony HDR-CX360V to record 1920x1080 50p/60p AVCHD MTS files, which are not compatible with FCP X. So in order to edit the movies on FCP X, conversion from MTS in 50/60 progressive mode to ProRes is necessary.

I've tried Clipwrap, Toast and Aunsoft to carry out the conversion. Clipwrap failed because it cannot export 50/60 progressive mode; Toast completed converting but the quality is badly affected.

Only Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac successfully converted the 50p/60p MTS to ProRes 422 with no loss of quality. I really want to say that it is the best software to Transcode Sony HDR-CX360V 1920x1080 50p/60p AVCHD MTS footage for FCP X that I've ever used.

Here is the step-by-step guide to quickly Convert/Edit Sony CX360 50p/60p MTS to ProRes 422 (*.mov) on FCP X.

1. Importing 50p/60p AVCHD MTS files to Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac
Use a USB cable to Connect Sony HDR-CX360V to Mac. Follow the popup window and wizard to complete the import.

2. Merging and converting 50p/60p AVCHD MTS files to what you want.
After the MTS movies are imported, select one or several videos you would like to convert and then drag and drop them to Movies tab. You can choose the files to be joined as one whole, or create a single movie for each file. Then click the "set parameter" button. Choose Apple ProRes 422(HQ) (*.mov) under Final Cut Pro as its output format and choose "50" (or 60) for the frame rate.

3. Export Apple ProRes 422(HQ) for editing on FCP X
After setting the output format and frame rate, click the "Export" button and conversion from 1920x1080 50p/60p AVCHD MTS files to Apple ProRes 422(HQ)(*mov) starts.

After the conversion is completed, Import and Edit ProRes 422 (HQ) on FCP X.

Tips:
If you want to join/merge Sony HDR-CX360V AVCHD MTS clips and play on WDTV Live with original quality, you can use Aunsoft Final Mate to import MTS files and flawlessly export MKV without transcoding.
